Givenchy Mini "Pandora" Messenger: Opening Pandora's Box

Wrinkled sheepskin leather and a thin, toss-on-and-go shoulder strap sounds like an easy rock 'n' roll bag, and this funky mini just might be it. I've never been a fan of Givenchy's original "Pandora" - she looks stylish, but don't let her easy appearance fool you. Try to carry or open the bag, and you realize it's boxy and inconveniently shaped. Plus, the larger size only had one top handle for carrying, so you needed two hands just to open it and a third to retrieve your belongings.

But a petite size with a long strap? This cross-body style, leaving both hands free to do as you please, makes all the difference. And the proportions are right on: "Pandora's" odd shape looks decidedly cute in a small size. In vibrant violet, you've got quirky attitude; in black, you've got wear-with-whatever attitude. Second time around, Pandora's box might be full of good surprises. At Barneys New York for $980.

Pair with: A swipe of electric-blue eyeliner, a la SJP and Rihanna, will match the independent spirit of your little bag. Bright aqua eyeliner looks surprising with purple and enhances basic black. Check out the blues by Nars, Make Up For Ever, Sisley, and By Terry.
