Gucci 1973 Tote Bag

Courtesy of Gucci
When I first wrote about Gucci's gorgeous 1973 suede tote back in August--the moniker named after the Florentine house's archival logo--I knew it would be a hit. Now that the bag has hit stores and consumers have snatched it up, I was right: Jennifer Lopez, Pénelope Cruz, Heidi Klum and Eva Mendes have all been spotted with the double top handle tote, with Angelina Jolie spotted on Sunday with the carryall while in Paris. Gorgeous brass hardware and a somewhat less conspicuous GG logo aside, this bag is plenty roomy to hold everything. I like bags with as little fuss as possible, and this Gucci tote fits the bill. A simple front flap pocket hides a snap closure, with a double-zip closure inside keeps things secure. This is definitely a timeless bag that will continue to maintain its chic cachet for decades to come.

Christian Louboutin Trophe Medium Pony Shoulder Bag: Tell me about it, stud.

I dig this bag. I'll tell you why.

Black and white bags can be dull, boring and unimaginative. This one rattled my cage with its chain handle, bow detail and large leather pulls on the three separate zipper compartments. It's also not your run of the mill patterned preppy bag. This one is more Sandra Dee post Rizzo influence and black hot pants.

In fact, I would pair this with leather leggings and a pink tank. Or on a colder day, I'd wear it with this pretty little thing and some tall black over the knee essential boots.

In wearing this bag you have to have fun with it. Dress it up and make it dangerous or keep it casual and fun.

There is one little catch with this little guy. He's expensive. Alas, it is a great winter wear and you can pick it up at for $1695 at Luisa Via Roma.

Villador Bow Satchel: The slutch

The Villador Boy Satchel is your perfect in between bag. It is sort-of a clutch but can also be a shoulder bag. This means it is a Slutch.

This slutch can be worn by day while shopping for lemons at the nearest farmers market while walking your dog Bubbles, or by night after you have used said lemons in a vodka wine spritzer and now you feel like dancing till dawn.

I enjoy this bag. It is versatile, not huge, but big enough for the essentials. It also has the essential inner little zipper pocket that is imperative if you are going to wear this out anywhere because it keeps your credit cards and ID safely out of the hands of pick-pocket-ors, muggers, or your bartender after you dump your bag on the floor looking for your cell phone to call for a ride home because, turns out, vodka and wine are a deadly combination.

To sum up- the bag is cute, you will get a lot of use out of it, the bow is sweet as can be and you can swipe it at Luisaviaroma for $897.60

Alexander Wang Angela Pochette

Let me get my only annoyance about this bag out of way: why is this, and what I presume most, Alexander Wang bag made in China? For $650, and coming from a designer as prolific and fashion-forward as Alex, I must say I was shocked that this pochette carried such a tag. I know China's the next frontier for luxury--but I think they meant in terms of consumers and not necessarily luxury manufacturing. Country of origin aside, I think this pochette--named after Angela Lindvall, perhaps?--is the quintessential cool girl's bag. If the mom has the Hermès Kelly clutch, then this is her daughter's equally cool going-out bag. Alex's bags have been tremendously successful--not just because they're relatively affordable (now we know why), but because they're a great balance of edgy and utility. While this Angela silhouette is not a new shape, it does return for pre-spring in some great new colors, including smoke, sage and patent brick. Available in both patent (as seen here) and classic pebble leather finishes, it's adjustable short strap makes it perfect for nights out. The trademark stud details add the needed oomph while the necessary zippers remain hidden. Just how I like.

Felix Rey Flapper Clutch: Party's here

There are a few things that I can't get enough of in life; Puppies, vodka, men with great oblique muscles, and unique- vintage inspired bags.

The Felix Rey Flapper Clutch is cute as a button. Inspired by the 1920's, it makes me want to slip into a sequin dress, get a pixie hair cut and go hit the local speakeasy for some illegal refreshments.

This would be an ideal holiday bag and perfect for a fancy night out. The gold metal-mesh and rhinestone fringe are just begging for a good time. If you have the guts, pair it with this saucy number to really play up the flapper look. Or, if not feeling so Carrie Bradshaw-ish- how about this number and some cherry colored pumps?

Pick up this bag, drop a flask right in it and go paint the town red. $450

5 Celeb Style Secrets by Logan Horne

Celine Box bag in classic red. $3,400 at Celine.

1. A statement bag or shoe is an essential element to dressing like a celeb. Designers are pumping out it-bags right and left and yours should have enough spunk to carry an outfit as simple as your favorite jeans and tee. Be sure to choose wisely when selecting this seasons bag...you don't want to end up with a piece that you'll be sick of looking at by next season. Pick a classic piece with character so that years from now you'll still want to whip it out and show it off.

The many sides of Katherine Kwei

Peek in my bag closet and you'll think Sybil lives there.  I have bags for every personality imaginable (cuz I never know who I'm going to be when I wake up).  I don't like being confined to one style, which is why I'm kind of obsessing over the new Katherine Kwei "Amber" bags (I think she should have named them the "Sybil" bags, just saying).  The Amber messenger (left, $820) can be transformed three different ways, if you're not into the fringe-y thing one day, you can unzip it for a classic leather bag, the fringes can also be turned inside out and zipped back on for a different color option!  Genius!

The Amber Switch Bag has six separate looks!  This is how it works: the signature knotted fringe zips off to reveal a beautiful leather handbag. The fringe layer can then be turned inside out and zipped back onto the bag, offering an entirely different color option! The strap also is removable, making for a chic clutch option.

Oscar de la Renta Water Snake Goa Minaudiere

Am I the only one that feels like dancing every night in December? I love the holiday season-- so many excuses to see friends and drink bubbly!  I am known to get ready in 5 minutes or less (if necessary) because I always keep an Oscar de la Renta cocktail dress cleaned & pressed in my closet plus a couple of Oscar clutches on hand (oops, was that a pun?  Not intended).  Oscar pieces are a worthy investment, my vintage Oscar dresses from the '70s look as fresh today as they did off the runway 30 years ago.  And if you've been wanting a piece of Oscar yourself, now is the time because Fall/Winter stuff is 40% off!

This season, you must get a GOA Minaudiere in snakeskin (6.5"x4") in rich jewel tones.  Ladylike and elegant, it will dress up any outfit, even a pair of jeans.

Stella McCartney Tie-Dyed Falabella Cotton Tote

I like this Falabella tote so much better, there is something about the cut out corners of the original design that didn't sit right with me. Now I feel complete. I am a lover of linen so this makes perfect sense for a Stella bag, I don't feel like I am compromising or being robbed of superior material (the linen also off sets the weight of the chain). When faced with limitations, you have to get creative which is indicative of this tie-dyed treatment. It's not Rastafarian tie-dye cuz that would be scary and gross, this is like a wall treatment and gives texture and interest with tonal variations. The thick contrast stitching on the top may seem a bit too much with the chain and all but it actually is an important detail for a polished finish. We are going to see a lot more of you, Falabella, cuz this is a classic that is here to stay. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $1435.

Azzurra Gronchi Suede and Shiny Kidskin Clutch

Tina's favorite Musical: Phantom of the Opera
 Tina's Favorite Color: Pink

You'd think this god awful clutch would be perfect for me, wouldn't you?  Um, no.  Unless the mask is removable, then maybe.  You know, for nights when I don't want to be recognized (especially after singing all my favorite holiday songs with the piano player at the Melrose Wednesday night-- unsolicited by said piano player I should add.  I may never show my face there again!).   I have no idea what other purpose this face mask would serve on this other wise simple looking pink suede clutch.   I believe the nose serves as the flap handle but still, puzzled about the masquerade mask choice as embellishment for a clutch.  What do you think of it?

Fendi Forever Mamma Bag: Pretty-ish in Pink

Looking for a go to bag that is large enough to fit the essentials but not to big to make you hate your life come 1a.m.? The Fendi Forever Borsa Mamma Bag will hook you up.

The soft suede is amazing and I absolutely the dark pink color. The gold and tortoise chain however, I could do without, I think it takes it down a notch in the chic-ness department.

That being said, it is easy to wear and you could pair this bright little guy with a billion different looks. I would try a black and white number like this.

Proenza Schouler PS1 Mini Crossbody Pouch: I smell spring, and seagulls

Wowza. Now this is a green bag. The Proenza Schouler PS1 Mini Crossbody Pouch is my ideal piece for spring. Bright, lively, fun and ready for a good time.

The green makes me miss summer; exciting colors that pop, suntans, light airy dresses, beachy hair, coral lips, seagulls trying to steal my French fries at the beach, falling asleep and getting a third degree burn on my ear..........

Marc Jacobs Carnaby Tote, Large: G.L.A.M.O.R.O.U.S.

Is it bad that I had to sing the Fergie song to spell that correctly or is it bad that I want to wear this tote with high gloves and a big hat and speak in a British accent? I don't know why, just go with it.

This tote is glorious. I have always, always been a sucker for black and white. My prom dress at age 16 was simple, long black with a white stripe on top. When I'm in doubt, I go for my favorite black and white combo for an interview. This bag is no exception to my obsession. The beaded flower brooch set on the perfect ivory patent leather is so simple and easy and oh, so, glam.

I picture myself toting this bag away while wearing this

Mulberry Bayswater- Shocking Pink

I will give you a moment to adjust your eyes.

There. Better? If that isn't the brightest colored bag you have ever seen in your entire life, I hope you're eyes are okay. Introducing the shocking pink Mulberry Bayswater bag. I feel like even highlighter pink isn't even bright enough to describe this bag. Call me crazy. Call me Paris Hilton. But I love this bag, which is odd, because normally I'm not particularly a pink accessories person. Though I wouldn't recommend carrying this bag while wearing too many other colors, but this bag is a great accessory to have. Carried with a solid black outfit is sure to grab some attention. Picture it with slim leather pants and a chunky black sweater. Then BAM! This bright pink bag would definitely set you apart form the crowd.

If you happen to actually be Paris Hilton (hey girl!), you probably could pull this off with a pink dress. Or even a red dress for Valentine's Day! But if you aren't Paris, go ahead and stick with neutrals. This bag is loud enough, you're outfit can stay quiet, or even on mute.

Blake Lively x Cartier Classic Feminine Bag

Tiffany's isn't the only jeweler that's getting some TV time, courtesy "Gossip Girl." Blake Lively was recently seen toting around Cartier's new Classic Feminine handbag. A limited edition version of a new style introduced into the Cartier leathergoods range, Blake's sporting the large zebra furry calfskin model, with a flap in brown ebony calfskin and elaphe. A quick look and it's a simplistic style: a top handle with a removable shoulder strap make it versatile, while a flat pocket in the back allows for quick storage. To protect its façade, four square metallic studs serve as feet. Inside, it's plenty roomy: one large protective flap with two closure magnets, two inside compartments, one central zipped pocket and one large cell phone pocket, natch. Overall, it's a subtle, classic bag that sits on the fence between boring and eye-catching. Either way, it's the perfect complement to Serena van der Woodsen.

SALE ALERT: Alexander McQueen Faithful Pochette

I’ve always been a fan of Alexander McQueen. The way he combined art with fashion was always so captivating and mind blowing. It was always as if that each collection he released told a different story that the previous one. For a while now, I’ve been a huge fan of the “Faithful” collection. At first, I was in love with (and still am) the Faithful “Glove” Clutch. The whole idea of the clutch was very different than anything I had ever seen before. It had a very edgy look, which it was my wardrobe is on a daily basis.

Now, I love the Faithful Pochette. It’s not quite like the “Glove” clutch but it has it’s similarities. If I had to choose between the two I would obviously still pick the clutch but I must admit the pochette is really cute too. It still goes great with the rocker chick/edgy look and would be great to travel with.

Kooba Colby Convertible Backpack

After writing a recent blog post all about Kooba for The Bag Forum, I instantly became more intrigued about the brand. I’ve always known about Kooba, but I would say now I definitely know pretty much the whole story about how the brand came to be, and I’m also familiar with more of their purses now. I’m still in love with the “Malia” but the “Colby” is very intriguing.

When I was in high school, I thought I was one of the coolest teenagers because my Mom had bought me a Coach backpack. A majority of the high schoolers had Jansport backpacks but of course I had to strut around with a designer one. The “Colby” is definitely a bag I would of wanted to have in high school.

I think the coolest feature about this bag is that it’s convertible! When do you ever seen a backpack that can instantly be turned into a crossbody bag too? I’m not a huge fan of backpacks or crossbody bags but I do admit that this is pretty awesome! I have one crossbody bag and if it turned into a backpack it would be a pretty spiffy fashionable travel accessory to have.

You can purchase the Kooba “Colby” at Nordstrom for $525.

The PS11 is a sleeker, more polished cousin to the PS1 and features cross-body styling; arguably, this season’s hottest new bag style. Marc by Marc Jacobs Pleated Bag

Ever since I laid eyes on the Katherine Kwei Amber Switch Bag in Vanilla that is featured in this month’s Bag Bliss giveaway, I have been dreaming of a winter white handbag! It’s funny, really. Especially since I have always been wary of light colored handbags. But you know what? My fears are nothing a can of Apple Garde’ Rain & Stain Repellent couldn’t cure. So what I am waiting for?! It’s time to check out some winter white handbags to satisfy my newly found craving!

In my search, a bag that really caught my eye was the Marc by Marc Jacobs Framed Leather Shoulder Bag in Stone. It isn’t a very large bag, but I think that adds to it’s charm. Plus a smaller bag is less likely to accidentally come into contact with things and get dirty! I absolutely love, love, love the pleats on the front. They are soft, yet very chic.

They give this bag such a sophisticated look, despite it’s small size. I also like how they paired this color with gold hardware that is bold, but modern-looking. The contrasting leather strap is a nice touch as well. I really like the winter white/taupe combination! It is so unique and unexpected! This bag would be perfect for when you want to carry a bag that is simple and refined. A casual holiday party, perhaps? It would look simply darling paired with tailored pants and dressy blouse!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Takes Flight

Quilting and studs, logo plates, top-stitched logos are all familiar to us as Marc by Marc Jacobs. Birds are kinda new.

The Natasha leather bag and pouchette of the same style family feature playful, bird-shaped brass plates on the front of the bag with strap detailing. It’s a touch of sophisticated whimsy for those so inclined. I do admire the clean styling of the birds, but am still a little unsure. I think these bags would be perfect for a girl with a little attitude to keep the style from becoming too cute. Personally, I think the best name for these bags should have been Polly!

Foley + Corinna Plated Hobo

Corinna has managed to come up with some very unique handbag designs. I’m not talking about the well-known City Tote, as this style has practically become a household name. No, I’m talking about the interesting-looking styles that seem to pop up with each new collection. And one that caught my eye this season was the you see pictured here!

This geometric hobo is round and flat, which sort of reminds me of a flying saucer. What really grabbed my attention though was the interesting use of plates to create an asymmetrical pattern around the bag’s perimeter. Yes, that’s right, plates. If you look closely, you will see that the large rectangles are actually many plates lined up side by side. Breaking up the pattern here and there are some flat, button-like studs. This bag certainly is different, I will give it that! It probably would not fit in with everyone’s look, but I think it would make a great funky bag for the right person. I think it would look great with some black jeans, a casual tee, and a killer Alexander McQueen scarf! It comes in Gunmetal or Black, but I would say go for the black… definitely!

Net-A-Porter Shares their Top 5 Bag Picks for the Holidays

One of our go-to and favorite online retailers, Net-A-Porter.com, teamed up with us to share their five favorite bag picks for the holiday season. See what senior buyer at Net-A-Porter.com, Sasha Sarokin, chose as her top five with her reasons why below.

Which of these choices would you like to receive most as a gift this holiday season? I’m still all about Proenza Schouler!

Currently coveting the Oscar de la Renta Grafton Clutch

When we first talked about the Oscar de la Renta Grafton Clutch, many of you shared my love for the design. I rekindled my love for this sleek design from designer-extraordinaire Oscar de la Renta over the weekend.

Just in time for the holidays, the Grafton is the ideal holiday party clutch. The stand-out design remains simple while still gathering the perfect amount of attention for your outfit. The shape is classic and feminine, just as Oscar knows how to do. The options below range from solid color (the lizard is truly gorgeous) to fun and spunky multi-colored python. Which version do you like best?

Akris does leather just as well as it does horse hair

Akris’s first attempts at handbag success were almost universally well-received; despite being illogically pricey, the Akris Horsehair Ai Bag sold briskly and dotted magazine pages and the arms of celebrities as visible as Angela Jolie. Now that the brand has its footing, it’s time to branch out.

The Akris Allega Braided Leather Hobo is indeed a worthy next step for a brand that prides itself on precision and technique. Although this bag doesn’t appear to be “braided” in the traditional sense of the word, the thin leather strips are woven together to give a ton of texture to what otherwise might be an unspectacular hobo.

Chloé wants you to buy in to the Paddington revival

About a year and a half ago, we asked you if still had any interesting the Chloe Paddington Bag. Your responses were mixed, but that hasn’t stopped Chloé from trying to reintroduce The Little It Bag that Could back into the fashion conversation. With the release of several bags alone the lines of the Chloé Pure Paddington Duffle, it seems as though the brand’s efforts to relive the Paddington’s glory days are stronger than ever.

Are you buying it? I’m not. There are a variety of ways to make a really sharp black duffle, and adding details from a bag that was popular five years ago is not among them. Nostalgia is great, but before I can have nostalgia in any meaningful way, I need for the original to go away long enough for me to miss it. That has yet to happen with the Chloé Paddington, and it seems as though it never will.

VBH Supports Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon

Thank you VBH for supporting Lupus LA at the Hollywood Bag Ladies Luncheon. It was a hugely successful event, thanks to bags like this - it was hotly contested, I got my last bid in and then someone swooped in and outbid me by $1000!!! This stingray box clutch is hand painted and has the most amazing hardware with filigree detail all around the frame. I am now regretting not being more aggressive since it was for a good cause. Toni Braxton was the Humanitarian Award recipient. She went public about having lupus and said that the face of the disease could be strong, brave and beautiful like hers. I will have more images up from this event as they come in. We are so proud to sponsor such an amazing event for an important cause.

Dea Rosa Handbag Collection

A python Carpiano satchel and Pompeiana clutch.

Are you sick of 5 figured bags? Andria Mitsakos certainly was but she actually did something about it-- she made a line of exotic bags named Dea Rosa (for her grandmother) priced at $490-$2000 (trust me, this is very reasonable for exotic skin bags!). All bags are made in Italy from python, crocodile and lizards. How does she keep her prices low? She says she is conservative when cutting the skins, thus allowing her to use less skin.  Mitsakos named every bag in her line after cities in Italy, and prefers clean and elegant lines over clunky hardware.  The better to show off the skins of course.  Starting in Spring 2011, the Dea Rosa bags will be available at select boutiques.  What do you think of Dea Rosa bags?  Snob or Slob?

Bottega Veneta Braided Leather Hobo Bag

There are few things in life you can never have enough of; red velvet cupcakes with champagne, diamonds, and Bottega Veneta bags.  In fact, it should be the first thing you tell your future husband on the first date-- just so there are no misunderstandings later on in the marriage and when you see a bag like this, he will understand why you can not live another day without it.  Bottega does soft bags like nobody's business and this braided hobo is no exception.  Buttah soft, check.  Roomy but lightweight, check.  It's great for work, play and travel.  We all need a LBB (Little Black Bag) in our life that takes us everywhere don't you agree?

Prada Lino Twist Frame Shoulder Bag

Prada usually misses with their novelty bags but this is one that I love so much that I might get for Spring. The bag itself is linen but the python accents and the shocking lime green trim is so amazing. The colors pop and contrast, the whole thing just works together magically. The only change I would make, if I had a choice, is the braided handle - it's too thick. That knot is unnecessary, too. Well, I didn't say it was perfect

Phillip Lim Edie bow-embellished leather bag:

Don't judge a book by its cover, and don't judge a bag by its bow.

When you first meet The Phillip Lim Edie bow-embellished leather bag, it seems sweet innocent and delicious, then turns around and gives you a swift kick in the ass- just like that pumpkin ale I tried yesterday....

With a neat little bow and compact size, it is cute as a button, but like most small packages, there is more then what meets the eye.

The black glossy leather is kissed with gunmetal studs and snake effect trim making this good girl bag go bad- and when I say bad, I mean awesome.

This bag balances girly-ness and hard rock edge perfectly. I adore it. I also have a secret crush on its uber girly sister- The Phillip Lim Edie bow-embellished velvet bag. I can't help it. It's like the bad boy in school; you know you shouldn't want him, but you just can't tear your eyes away. I'm not usually a fan of anything velvet, it usually reminds me of my velvet red Christmas dress when I was 5 years old when my tights were itchy during church. But..... I adore this velvet. I do. Am I crazy?

Jimmy Choo Bali woven raffia hobo bag: Vacation, anyone?

It's no secret that I adore hobos, and this one is nestling into a special place in my heart. A place where I dream of wearing it with a pretty little white sundress on a hot day, somewhere near the ocean skipping around, eating a strawberry ice cream cone. Or on a cool fall day with a pair of knee high black boots, tights and this.

Traditionally, woven bags like this are too summery- looking to wear in colder months, but the Jimmy Choo Bali woven Raffia Hobo bag has adorable black leather buckle details and gold hardware which gives this light bag a bit of a darker edge. This is such a classy looking bag I would wear it year round.

Still, it does remind me of summer and makes me want to take a trip far away to sit on a beach and build the tallest sandcastle ever. Then admire it triumphantly while sipping a soda to later have a drunk guy knock it over.

Chloé Billie New Small Messenger Bag: A (should be) Gossip Girl's

Isn't this bag delicious? How much does it scream, "TAKE ME HOME EMMA, PLEASE!?" I know I know I hear it too. It's hard to type over the yelling. This adorable crossbody has soft leather and linen accents that mesh together to result in a match made in handbag heaven. Combined with the (oooooo SNAP) closure- it makes it even more irresistible. I can picture Blair Waldorf toting the Chloé Billie New Small Messenger Bag all around campus. I can also picture Blair and I being the best of friends and sharing fruit snacks and telling secrets and me taking over as Serena and living happily ever after in the lap of luxury, just as God intended. Back to reality (ew), this bag is amazing. Chic, simple and to the point, it is perfect for fall. However, you may need to have Blair Waldorf's kind of cash to tote this baby around. It's $1,560.00 at Sak's.

Celine Classic Python Bag Resort 2011

Someone recently asked me if I ever get sick of bags. Um, is the Pope sick of Jesus? Ok, so that's a bit of an exaggeration but you get my point. My latest bag obsession is Celine's box bag, I have yet to get one (I can't decide which color/skin to get!) and it seems the bag gods are trying to tempt me yet again. I got an email from Doris, my SA at the only Celine boutique in the US, that she just got a yellow python box bag from Resort '11 in. Is this not the sickest color and skin of the Box bag? The gorgeous yellow color is sweet with tart, like the lemon gelato sold on the streets of Rome. I did not get this but it is on top of my list to Santa (yes I still believe, only those who believe will receive).

I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to think about this bag and mentally go through everything in my wardrobe I could wear it with. This is a trick I taught myself years ago, it's lot more interesting than counting sheep and I fell asleep immediately.

This is the medium size Box bag priced at $4,350 (I know, crazy expensive for a tiny bag).

Hermès Spring 2011

For spring, there's a serious push for pastel hues at Hermès. Check out the Kelly bags pictures here; in citrus and shocking pink, they're the newest incarnations of the classic Hermès bag. I also love the sky blue Birkin--it reminds me of the blue jean Birkin but is just a shade or two lighter. Very fun and refreshing for warm days! Sitting beside the Birkin are a trio of mini Birkin-like bags that are meant to be worn across the body. Aren't they absolutely adorable? They're not exactly practical and I couldn't help but think of Suri Cruise as soon as I saw them. What is practical, and unbelievably chic, is the Constance in the new kiwi color. It's incredible wouldn't you agree Bag Snobs? The Constance has always been a true classic (note the shape of Céline's new Box bag) but it looks thoroughly modern in this shade of green. Love! Do you see the Birkin? It's a new color called blood orange (I'm craving a drink right about now) with a completely white belly and underside.Last but not least, Hermès has debuted a completely new bag: the "Do Re Mi." It reminds me of the old school Polochon but with a long leather strap that makes it suitable to carry as a travel bag. It comes in a normal everyday size and also in a miniature version that reminds me of a hot dog!

Anya Hindmarch Junie Canvas Bow Tote: Why God, Why?

Go ahead, take another look. I'll wait.

Yup, I'm still here, and I am as stumped as you are. While I was perusing the Sak's website I came across this bad boy and all I have to say is.... YES!

Not, "YES, I am going to wear the crap out of this bag and everywhere I go I will yell at people to look at how awesome it is!" but, "YES! FINALLY, a gift for my retired 2nd grade teacher for her carry her cat to the vet in!"

In all seriousness though, I have to ask.... Why?

Why does this giant blue tote have eyelet details all over it? Why does this giant blue tote have eyelet details in THE SHAPE OF A BOW on the front of it, and why doesn't my great aunt Shirley already own this?

I'm not saying I don't love a good giant tote. I do. They are practical and useful and necessary in a lot of instances. This one, however, just makes toting painful. The bow on the front of this is completely stupid and unnecessary and I get anxiety when I look at it.

What else is wrong with this picture? This tote is $495.00. I mean come on, its canvas.

If you need a Christmas gift for that special someone in your life that you're not so fond of, you can pick this bad boy up at Saks.

Gucci Madison Ostrich Medium Tote

Gucci does exotic right. I am not a Gucci fan but when it comes to skins they know well enough to leave off the dingle dangles and keep things simple. This ostrich tote is gorgeous with unassuming details like the tabs and hardware free handles. You would not mistaken this for any other designer with the conspicuous Gucci tag (but not obnoxious) but it's just amazing skin and incredible quality shining above all else. I suppose without a skin, that kind of minimalist aesthetic would be too subtle and not exactly the voice of this glamour house. I just wish there was no seam at the bottom but this is a good size bag at 19" by 12" so using one piece of skin would drive the price higher than the already stratospheric $3900. At Saks Fifth Avenue.

Valentino Landscape Print Nylon Tote

I want this as a travel tote, it's lightweight and has the bright pep-me-up I need when spending time in a dreary airport. Even when stuck indoors, I will have a beautiful landscape printed right on my bag! The bright green handles are super cute but that bow closure is even cuter!! This isn't something you take too seriously but that is when the problem comes in, for such a casual use bag, the price is stupid for what I want to use it for. I guess I can turn to reusable grocery bags for this same purpose (I just got a Hello Kitty one at the Sanrio Anniversary event) but this is a Valentino so you really can't compare. And I wouldn't really want to put groceries in this. Maybe it'll be 70% off at the end of the sale season. A girl can only dream. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $1595.

Jimmy Choo Ubai Metallic Leather Clutch

A clutch does not have to be covered in sequins & crystals or be in the shape of a monkey to be holiday party worthy-- I adore the look of distressed metallic leather juxtaposed with a fancy dress.  Burnished gold perforated leather looks industrial and trendy-- this will bring a downtown edge to anything you wear.  Jimmy Choo has fabulous clutches this season for great prices (am I jaded to think $550 is reasonable for a clutch?!).

for $550

Adriana Castro Lupe Hobo

I can't think of a better way to kick off turkey day than with one of our favorite young bag designers, Adriana Castro. We are obsessing over her latest arm candy, the Lupe hobo (15"hx16.5"w $2,045) in bleached sand matte python (quite a mouthful but oh so beautiful!). Adriana is known for creating bags with clean lines and simple silhouettes, an elegant alternative to the over embellished bags we are seeing every where.

The Lupe hobo has wrap around outer pockets for functionality but doesn't compromise the streamlined design of the bag.  A perfect bag to take from work to play!

Henry cuir Depeche Satchel : Who Wouldn't Want To Carry Around A Carpet?

I have an idea. Tonight when I get home, I will pour myself some pinot, grab a handful of Cheez-It's, turn on ABC family, then rip up the awesome tan carpet in my bedroom and sew it together to make a purse. When it is completed, I will sell it online for a thousand dollars. Sound good? Perfect. Mama needs a new pair of shoes.

But seriously, this bag is confusing. They call the material used "fuzzy" but what the hell is it actually? I want to know what I'm dropping $1,195 dollars on. In taking a closer look, it seriously looks like a carpet.

Now, call me crazy, but I think that is a steep price tag for flooring. I understand it has a leather shoulder strap and African bead detail, but still, unless this bag doubles as a floor mat, I can't justify the price.

On the positive side however, this little baby does open up a whole new door in the bag world. Bags made out of household items! The George Forman grill/clutch- make a sandwich and go dancing at the same time! Or the towel tote- dries you off and holds your beach snacks at the same time!

Wait- that last one is an excellent idea- no one steal that please- or if you do- name it the Emma Supreme. Thanks.

Barneys for (again- yikes) $1,195.00.

Alexander McQueen Byzantine Queen Skull Crocodile Box Clutch

You know I love McQueen's skull box clutches but looking at this is giving me physical pain (not in a good way).  Sure I've been known to obsess over embellished bags but why cover the amazing crocodile skin with $10 crystals and bedazzle beads?  On satin it is understandable (you have to up the ante on expensive cloth bags) and even acceptable on leather but crocodile skin stands alone and needs no assistance!  I understand the Queen needs her jewels but in this case, she should just go naked.

By the way, I'm also hoping the ruby eyes are real rubies (my skull clutch has Tahitian pearls) at this price.
for $9,750

Lanvin Maisha Lizard Shoulder Bag: Turns Out- It's Easy Being Green.

I can't deny it. This bag makes me crave lizard.

The Lanvin Maisha Lizard Shoulder Bag has a deep green color (ooooooo) with a sexy metal chain link shoulder strap with satin lining (ahhhhh).

There is no doubt about it, this is a luxury bag. It would be absolutely perfect for a night on the town, possibly while wearing this and this while we're at it. The gold detail and the different chains that are used for the strap are the perfect additions to make this bag truly special.

The green color is spectacular. This deep evergreen would bring depth and deliciousness to any look. I'm planning a vacation for February and this bag would be perfect for warmer climate outfits, like a sexy mini dress, or my moo-moo.

But, of course, luxury comes at a price and this baby will set you back $4,615.00. But who can put a price on pretty? Well, Lanvin can I guess, but baby, you're worth it.

Hermès Wicker Kelly Bag

As if the see-thru Kelly bag Jean Paul Gaultier showed at his final Hermès Spring 2011 show (it's actually very thin crocodile!!!) wasn't to be lusted after, check this out: a Kelly made from leather and wicker! Doesn't it just make your everyday Kelly look plain boring? Get on the wait list now ladies! I had a close look at this bag and I have to warn you: it is pretty heavy (even when empty) and is very structured. The wicker is extremely strong and well bound. Perhaps the best part?

Swarovski Allegro Evening Bag

I love crystals so it comes as no surprise that I’m in love with everything at Swarovski. To me, everything just looks much more prettier with some sophisticated bling on it.

Swarovski always has the most gorgeous clutches one can ever imagine. A clutch that is completely covered in crystals will always catch someone’s eye. When it’s a clutch that is covered in Swarovski crystals it makes a statement.

The “Allegro” Silver Evening Bag by Swarovski is on my current wish list. It’s gorgeous and almost looks like it’s a bag that is engulfed in diamonds. My favorite part of the bag is definitely the fake lock closure. I’m assuming it’s fake because by the picture it looks as if the clutch has a flap closure. The lock makes it look more exclusive and different than any other clutch out there.

Another favorite feature of mine is that the chain can actually be removed! I do own a Swarovski clutch bag, and if I could move the shoulder strap I’d love it even more! To me clutches should always give you the option of being able to remove the shoulder strap. It’s not really a clutch if it has a strap? Is it? Nonetheless, it’s still a beautiful bag that I’m craving to buy.

The Swarovski “Allegro” can be purchased at Swarovski for $1,300

Prada Spring: Lino Twist

Prada bags have fairly classic styling. It’s not difficult to identify them when you catch a glimpse of one of their bags. That’s not the case with their Spring offerings. A marriage of materials with a touch of whimsy are eye-catching and just the right transition into resort.

The Lino Twist Frame Shoulder Bags offer a blend of linen, lambskin, python or croc accents in a way that just happens to work. These are smaller bags in the 10″ x 7 ” X 3″ or 11″ x 6″ x 4″ range. Perfect for luncheons or that evening yacht club party. Personally, I think you could pull it off with some sophisticated dark denim and darling tops suitable for cocktails.

The turquoise and lime green accents are going to be two of the major colors of the season. Prada is right on trend with that selection. For those who love exotic bags but can’t afford the whole bag at $3 – $5K a pop, these are a great option by utilizing it as an accent. I’m loving how the python pops in turquoise and the croc clasp accent is simply darling. Such a beautiful detail! Lime green suede is somehow the perfect accent with the natural colored python.

The interior is beautifully finished with lambskin as a contrast to the linen exterior. Beautifully woven handles are evocative of friendship bracelets and provide a little more whimsical vibe. The turquoise – my personal fave – has a detachable 9″ chain strap. It allows the woven handle to become a decorative element.

Sure, you will not carry a linen bag every day and it is certainly not a catchall option. This bag is for those who can afford fun bags to enhance their collection. $1895 – $2250

Valentino Nymphe Garden Tote

In Greek mythology, a nymph is a minor goddess. They are typically associated with a land form (e.g. woods, river, etc), but can also be part of the retinue of a god. An interesting tidbit, but I am not exactly sure what it has to do with the you see pictured here.

A crazy gorgeous piece, the tote features a rather dramatic display of silk blooms. I love how the cream and blush flowers at the top fade to gray and then black as they make their way toward the bottom. The flowers are simple and relaxed, not packed together and stuffy like other flower-filled bags.

But would I consider this a garden, let alone a nymph garden? Perhaps not. But I think the soft, floaty feeling you get from this bag pays tribute to the young maidens. It is romantic and free, like a watercolor painting. Definitely a nymph-worthy piece! That is about as far as I’m going to go with trying to make a connection though. After all, this lovely piece has an aura all its own that is sure to draw just about any bagista in for closer look! But hey, who doesn’t want to feel like a goddess?

Leah & Bliss Birkin-esque Uptown

Take one look at the Leah & Bliss Mini “Uptown” Pearl Bag and what other designer brand comes to your mind? If you’re thinking what I’m thinking of, it’s definitely the Hermes “Birkin”.

I’m sure if someone were to interview the designers at Leah & Bliss they would say they were inspired by Hermes but added their own little twist to the over popular bag. After I got over the Hermes comparison, I instantly thought of Lady Gaga. I’m pretty sure one of Lady Gaga’s most famous outfits was an outfit full of bubbles. Even though this handbag doesn’t have bubbles all over it, the pearls do kind of give off that effect.

Some people might be against this bag because of the Hermes similarities but I can see a “pro” to purchasing a bag like this. An Hermes “Birkin” starts at around $10,000, probably more since we are approaching 2011. Unless, you have serious dough or a major credit card you aren’t getting one. Not to mention, the waiting list to get a “Birkin” is pretty insane. The joy about the “Uptown” handbag is that the price tag is great and there is no waiting list. Yes, it may look like a “Birkin” but perhaps one that’s dressed up in the most unique way possible.

The Leah & Bliss Mini “Uptown” Pearl Black Calfskin Handbag can be purchased at Singer22 for $850.

Foley + Corinna Stripley Mid City

Corinna City tote. Even though each bag looks relatively the same, just made in different sizes, it’s still a fabulous bag. The versatility of the bag is probably the best part about it. Being able to carry a bag two different ways is always a plus in my book and makes it worth the money a little more.

The “Stripley” Mid City Tote caught my eye strictly because of the banding featured all over it. It gave the tote more of a “rocker” look, which I’m obsessed with. Not only does the banding give it that edgy look, but it can also pass as being asymmetrical, which we all know has been a huge trend this year.

This is definitely a bag I would carry around all year long, and day or night. The tote is casual enough for the daytime, but it also can be paired with a stylish outfit for the evening. For me personally, I would carry this bag around when I’m wearing leggings, hot heels, and and one of my asymmetrical banding shirts. Might as well have your shirt match your handbag perfectly right?

Ileana Makri Skull 18 Karat White Gold Diamond Studs

I think it was Alexander McQueen that got me hooked on skulls. There is just something about them that calls to me in a way that has nothing to do with being morbid, but I’m not sure what it is exactly. But I suppose I will admit they do look pretty cool when perched atop a McQ clutch! Skulls have, however, made their way into many different accessories from a variety of designers. So for all you skull enthusiasts out there, do I ever have the skull accessory for you! Introducing the Ileana Makri Skull 18-Karat White Gold Diamond Studs!

These little earrings are the ultimate piece for the hardcore collector! Cute little skulls and crossbones were formed from 18-karat white gold and encrusted with diamonds. These simple, dainty studs feature bell-backs to fasten to the ear. Expensive, yes… but absolutely gorgeous! And it never hurts to indulge just a little every once in awhile!

Balenciaga Akyon Glitter Bags

One of my favorite songs to hear over the holidays is “Silver Bells”. It’s also one of my favorite colors with which to decorate. Sparkly silver with a little touch of gold really gets me in the mood for the season. Sparkles and glitter. Absolutely love it!

So I am really loving the new glitter bags by Balenciaga on MyTheresa! My Theresa is a German online site with service to the U.S. What this means is that you can find items not currently available in the states! Each Tuesday, they add 120 new items so there is a reason to come back week after week!

Beautiful leathers with glitter silver toned “optic” are featured in the Classic Papier Tote, Classic Money Wallet and Glitter Shoulder Bag. The designer color name is called Akyon. For those fans out there, and there are many, these should definitely be on your wish list.

LaLucca Art Bags

Prices of handbags continue to grow. I spend much more time thinking about my handbag purchases now, contemplating both price and quality. We first covered LaLucca a while back and they are more than worth coming back to discuss again.

The aptly named are comprised of a usable clutch shape which has been interpreted in canvas and leather and hand-painted by artist Aleksandar Kirilov. That makes each bag a unique design, as Kirilov transforms each cut pattern into a 3-D art piece. The colors and prints vary from subtle to bold. Best part is you can own a truly one-of-a-kind bag for $375. In today’s handbag market, the price is beyond agreeable and the design stands out.

With many options to choose from I narrowed it down to five of my favorite designs. A clutch is one of the best accessories to use as an art piece and LaLucca nails this arena of the handbag world (which in my opinion is lacking). We all love our little black dresses, which needs something like one of these clutches to stand out. Share your favorite Art Bag design from LaLucca with us in the comments section!

Balenciaga Spring 2011 is full of color, texture

Over its ten year history, the great strength of the Balenciaga motorcycle bag has been its ability to be something of a sartorial Rorschach test. Because of the design’s simple lines and ability to morph from shape to shape while still being unmistakably Balenciaga, a prospective customer can see in it whatever she would like to see, and Nicolas Ghesquiere & Co. have taken to releasing it in every color, material and silhouette possible. All the better to collect, my dears.

Balenciaga’s Spring 2011 handbags continue that tradition in leather both perforated and traditional, suede, straw, python, crocodile, velvet and canvas. Did I miss any? I might have. The collection also ranges in color from subdued, rich carmel to acid green snakeskin and hits just about every note in between. Whether your personal style is prim, punk or such that you might be compelled to buy a very expensive fanny pack (please don’t), there’s an option for everyone who has ever loved a motorcycle bag in this massive line.

Fendi makes the Peekaboo look fresh with texture and color

The Fendi Peekaboo Tote is getting to that point in its design life cycle where people start impatiently tapping their feet, awaiting the next thing from the brand. Spring 2011 holds a few options, but until those come to retail, this pink iteration of the popular Peekaboo might just be enough to hold your attention. I just have one question, though – what is this bag actually made of?

Bergdorf Goodman’s description lists the bag’s materials as goat and calf skin, but makes no mention of embossing of any sort. When I first looked at the bag, I assumed that I was looking at watersnake or lizard of some sort, since those two materials are generally the sort of thing that create the texture you see above. And then there’s the small matter of price: this Peekaboo costs $700 more than the goat and calf Peekaboo of the same size at Saks, which has no embossing and actually appears to be made of the aforementioned leathers. Bergdorf also stipulates that this bag cannot be shipped to Canada, although Fendi’s regular leather bags have no such stipulation that I can find on the company’s website.

So, I see two distinct possibilities: either Bergdorf’s has the material identifications wrong, or Fendi would like its customers to pay $700 for some embossing and a bright color. For the sake of my sanity and the luxury business as a whole, I hope it’s the former.

Balenciaga embraces brights for Spring 2011

Since Balenciaga doesn’t often show handbags on its Paris runway, getting a look at what Nicolas Ghesquiere has cooked up for an approaching season can be a little tricky. From the few pictures I’ve seen, Balenciaga Spring 2011 will feature brightly colored straw motorcycle bags similar to those from Spring 2010, but the addition of this colorblocked shopper is a bit more unexpected.

Spring 2011 prices have yet to be released, so if you’re a Balenciaga lover, what price would you want to see in order to be interested in this bag?

Chloé uses a multitude of materials to make a sleek little shoulder bag

When trying to design a high-end bag, mixing materials can turn into a risky proposition. If too many are used, or the use of the materials has a lack of sophistication, the final product can look patchworked and cheap very, very quickly. Luckily, the Chloé Billie New Small Messenger Bag manages to stay on the right side of the line.

By constructing the main body of the bag out of leather and canvas in shades of tan, Chloé gave this design texture without adding fussiness or confusion. Keeping the shiny black patent for use as trim only gives the bag a pleasantly vintage feel and even more wardrobe versatility.

A Matter of Taste: Food as Fashion

In a pairing of two of my favorite things, food and fashion, photographer Fulvio Bonavia released a book in 2008 titled A Matter of Taste. From handbags to shoes to jewelery, the photographs not only showcase food as fashion, but also shows that some still use their hands to create versus Photoshop. Each item in this book was created by Fulvio himself, who then photographed his creations.

I ran into this earlier this week and could not stop staring. As much as a broccoli handbag seems odd and smelly, the conceptual photograph makes it colorful and inviting. Other renditions include a raspberry clutch, blackberry Chanel-esque bag, a brick of cheese bag (I love cheese, this one is unexpectedly amazing), and a fresh blueberry clutch.

Which item is your favorite?

Vogue gives as a closer look at a piece of multicolor heaven from Fendi Spring 2011

You may or may not have liked Fendi’s Spring 2011 handbag collection, but you can’t argue that it was what fashion industry people call “directional.” Instead of merely designing safe, pretty accessories, Fendi’s handbags gave us a new way to think about combining color, structure and texture.

Vogue.com chose this Fendi Multicolor Woven Clutch to illustrate spring’s colorblocking trend in its Accessories Blackbook, but upon close examination, the design is interesting for more than just its use of color.

Which is not to say that this clutch’s bold color statement isn’t important; it is, and combinations like this one are what make Fendi’s spring accessories so timely. Not only is the clutch made of five different colors of leather, but the enamel-covered logo closure adds even more visual interest to the equation.

On top of that, though, Fendi clearly thought about how to take your average flap clutch and elevate it beyond the mundane. Instead of just using straight leather laces to create the woven pattern, the designers chose pieces of leather with a zig-zag edge pattern to make the weave even more intricate and detailed. It shouldn’t work, but somehow, it does. In spades.

Bags like this can be difficult to work into an existing wardrobe because of their clear personalities, but if you’ve got the extra cash and some patience, figuring out a way to add this bag (or any of Fendi’s other Spring 2011 options) to your personal collection will be well worth your while.

For the more conservative among us, Fendi also makes lovely sueded snakeskin

When we wrote about Fendi’s colorblocked clutch and what it portends for spring’s trends last week, your reaction was predictably split. A strong point of view will always divide people, even if all the people responding have great taste (and, duh, of course you do). For those of you who thought that Fendi veered into stank territory with that clutch, we present you with the Fendi Forever Mamma Anaconda Shoulder Bag.

I like this design for a couple of reasons. First, charcoal is my favorite neutral. The people at Bergdorfs apparently think this bag is black, but I reject their reality and substitute my own. Second, it’s made out of anaconda skin instead of the standard python, which simultaneously reminds me of “Baby Got Back” and that horrible Jennifer Lopez movie about anacondas that came out while I was in middle school. And, I mean, who doesn’t have positive associations with the days when your parents used to have to drop you off and pick you up so you could see a movie with eight of your closest twelve-year-old friends?

Models Love Michael by Michael Kors Hamilton

Sure models have no say in what they wear on the runway but they certainly have strong opinions about what they wear on the street. They get to try on the best fashion in the world! So what do they end up wearing? Michael Kors, of course. Patricia van der Vliet , Heidi Mount, Karlie Kloss (on the left) and Karmen Pedaru are all seen with the Hamilton and most of them chose my favorite color in this bag, orange!! The extra large size looks great on these Amazon beauties but it comes in 3 sizes to suit your stature. Usually bags with both top handles and shoulder straps look like they're having an identity crisis but worn either way, the straps enhance the chic-ness of the overall bag. It also has a fantastic price point, at Michael Kors for $398 (in extra large).

Leonard Spring 2011 - Tassels, you say? I'm in.

Veronique Leroy and Daniel Triboulliard for Leonard spring-summer 2011 ready-to wear collection has simply nailed the bohemian, flower child, free spirit look. I am totally qualified to say that. My mom went to Woodstock. But seriously, I love these bags. They are pretty enough to take out at night, but practical enough to use during the day. And tassels? Please, I'd wear them in my sleep. Fringe too? Check mate. I'm sold. Anyone who knows me would be the first to tell you that I adore a good cross body bag. Any of these would do just fine. And how adorable are these dresses? If it weren't for Christmas I would be fine with skipping winter all together to wear these fun things. But I do love winter boots.... Sigh.

YSL Roady Studded Suede Hobo

YSL's Roady Studded Suede Hobo instantly brought me back to 1987 when I was in high school and Bon Jovi ruled our world.  It was a time of fringe, studs and suede (I had a pair of boots made with all of the above, not kidding).  Good taste was not a priority (obvs), but having fun was.  It was a time of carefree rides to the beach in my convertible (sans sunblock) and hanging out on Melrose pretending to be 18.  Ahhhhh, the glory days of youth.  I miss those days at times when work and family stress me beyond reason.  But when I do, bags like this remind me that I can have fun, no matter what age.

Paige Gamble Grey Ostrich Hobo

Understated elegance has been redefined. Utilitarian indulgent chic may sound like an oxymoron but as is evident here, it can be a harmony of perfection. This is not your typical sack-y hobo, there is a wide gusset to maintain its form. I like the combination of smooth with the dotted quill skin, instead of looking like they're cheaping out on us, it gives an organic look that is soothing to the eye - a big bag with allover dots may sound decadent but it starts to look like a big blur - here your eyes are given a break to appreciate the texture more. The bow speaks to our sweet girly side and how can you say no to that? This Dove Grey Ostrich Hobo is $2600.

Christian Louboutin Trophe Studded Nappa Bag

Oh hello, Christian, while you were out designing fabulous shoes, someone had a little DIY fun with chainsaws and stud guns in your studio.  We all love to get our crafty on at times but what ridiculous creature did you make this for?!  Granted the cost is minimal compared to some of your shoes (that's another issue I need to discuss with you, by the way) but it's no excuse for sloppiness.  Generally zippers and exaggerated pulls are made to enhance a bag but in your case, it is the bag.  I have to stop looking at this now because I have an unnatural urge to tug and pull at things until I rip them to pieces.

Radley London "Grosvenor" Tote

It is just what I expect from the Brits to have a line of prim and proper bags with a hint of jolly fun. Radley London has an incredibly line of Frugal Snob bags with quality and finish that is definitely all Snob. This is the best value I've seen in a long time. The Grosvenor tote is a classic ladylike everyday bag but the subtle details in the straps and flap is giving Mulberry a run for their money. It has the same effortless chic but with even less effort - when people use the term "quiet luxury", it's an euphemism for expensive.

Smythson Nancy Zip Bag with Snake Trim

I have the original Smythson Nancy and it has been a favorite especially with all the attention I get with the unique origami design. And now it looks like I might need to update with the latest Nancy, a top handle zip bag with delicious snake trim. There was a lot of oohing and ahhing when I was looking at this bag with some girlfriends. This picture somehow makes the proportions look off but trust me, the straps and the size is perfect perfect perfect. The length of the straps are such that it can go over the shoulder or be hand held. The craftsmanship is astounding, getting each seam to be flawless is a feat in itself and all that effort was worth it because the flawlessness really stands out. The snake trim is just icing on the cake. You would think a bag with so much detail would be heavy but it is surprisingly lightweight! I'm in LOVE!! At Smythson online and Barneys New York brick and mortar stores for $1475.

McQueen Fever

Saw these on Neiman Marcus website and just had to share!  I'm still not digging the skull with crown thing but how beautiful are the scalloped edges on the clutch?!  Such a unique finish, the red patent leather looks like enamel trimmed in gold.  I have this size clutch from McQueen and it literally fits nothing but a lip gloss and credit card so I'm dying to get the elongated version.  The red python knuckle duster would be perfect for Christmas, by the way, if Santa is paying attention.  The clutches are on special order at Neimans-- Queen Skull Box Clutch, Strass Satin Skull Clutch, & Python Knuckle Duster Clutch here

Zagliani Shoulder Bag with Bow

I fell in love with this bag as soon as I laid eyes on it during Milan Fashion Week way back in February. Now that it is available, that same irrational exuberance is back. I say that only because this is an expensive bag but definitely a worthy of a lifelong investment. Sure the bow is kind of the thing now but I don't see how an immaculate matte black python bag could ever go out of style. You will bring this out when the bow is no longer and everything and it will be all that much more exciting. Everyone will be thinking, wow why did the bow ever go away? It is simply fab! But bow aside, this bag is perfection in every detail - matte python is insane, the gunmetal chain is subdued and chic and the flap style easily fits into every lifestyle. Let me count the ways.....of how I can finagle this into my closet.

Trend Alert: Paper Baggin' It

The latest craze in handbags? No, it's not crocodile or ostrich, it's.... paper bags! While Bottega Veneta used actual paper for its woven clutch, Proenza Schouler's version is merely inspired by paper bags.  We were fascinated with Bottega's innovative use of paper in its bags when we previewed them in Milan last spring.  I mean, it's one thing to say "let's use paper to make a bag!" and another altogether to actually make it, and do it so beautifully.  The clutch is also woven in python skin and made with a gorgeous beetle clasp that turns to unlock.  BOTTEGA VENETA Intrecciato Papier and Snakeskin Clutch here for $2,250 (I'm gasping at the price of paper, too but at least it's half snakeskin?!)

Givenchy Sacca Fall 2011

We can not get enough of the Sacca bag from Givenchy.  The team at Givenchy has (smartly) rid of the single chain that it originally was designed with (slipped off my shoulder constantly-- super annoying) and kept it simple with two flat handles that will actually stay on the shoulder.  So it's not as cute without that chain but cute gets you nowhere if it doesn't work (kinda like men).  I really like the patent leather quilted version (above left), it looks so squishy and soft but has a punk charm to it.  And hello, where are you going to find a bag like this for $795?!  This is a really great buy.

I'm not as into the studded version (above right) but I can see the appeal to the stud obsessed.  It is also surprisingly lightweight due to the nylon fabric.  Both bags are at Kirna Zabete (one of the best multi brand boutiques in the city)

Valextra Caju Mirror Handbag

I know Valextra is not for everyone. It is not exciting but it is not meant to be. Yes yes, quiet luxury, blah blah blah. But everyone should have one bag they wear for a lifetime. One that will always be relevant and elegant. This frame is the ultimate in classic especially in this perfect neutral "Clay", I mean, if it weren't Made in Italy the Queen of England would probably use it. Or maybe she does, but I'm strictly speculating here as to her loyalties when it comes to bag designers. OK, maybe that's not a big sell, she isn't exactly the leading taste-maker of our generation (or the last, or the one before that). Anyway, my point is, here is a bag that will take you from jeans, to suit, to dress, and through countless boyfriends and careers, marriage(s), motherhood, the whole shebang. One bag! OK, not one bag like this will be your one and only, but this bag can stay with you through it all. How much is that worth? Priceless right? Well, actually it's $3430, at Barneys New York.

Burberry Studded Leather Knight Bag

Want to travel like a badass? Who wouldn't? Well I have just the bag to make sure people know not to charge you too much for a cab or, god forbid, mistake you for a tourist. I give you- the Knight bag. Burberry's black leather travel bag with stud detail is your ticket to expert luxury traveling. The size of it speaks volumes about your badass-ery and the studs show that you travel "like a boss."

But in all seriousness, this bag is intimidating. I feel like Rihanna should carry this while wearing her black tutu and a t-shirt because she just doesn't give a hoot. This bag could get you bumped up to first class because of it's show stopping outside shell. In contrast, it could cause delays at security, because it could be seen as a weapon - which really just doubles the value of it, because now it is a self defense mechanism. Two for the price of one!

Mulberry Bayswater Python Bag

"I love goooooold." Ah yes. Quoting the always classy Johann van der Smut from "Austin Powers in Goldmember."  That has pretty much been what I have been saying every single time I look at this bag, which might I add is every five seconds.
Mulberry literally read my mind when they made the Bayswater bag for this season in metallic gold python.  Making a gold bag classy can be particularly difficult.  I mean, remember the Louis Vuitton Miroir Alma GM circa 2006 Kim Kardashian was spotted carrying when she was just BFF's with Paris Hilton?  Yeah, yikes is right.
Clearly Mulberry does a much better job at classy than Vuitton does, so I am not surprised.  Though I wouldn't recommend wearing this bag with a sequin dress on New Year's Eve, I would think this bag would be a great statement piece to wear with neutrals.  Or you might just have to wear the bag and only the bag if you buy it.  At $4,000, it isn't exactly the top of my Holiday Wish List.  Well, it is, but everyone just laughs at me.

Donna Karan 'Metro' Satchel

If I gave out awards for most improved bag designs, I'd hand a giant one to Donna Karan (not a bad idea, I could throw a party each year with lots of bubbly, invite all my favorite bag designers and give them awards for tempting my wallet. Who's in?).  Best part about the simple chic design is that it's great for men or women (thus the "Metro" name?!).  Sure it's not the most exciting bag in the world but there is a lot to be said for the subtle details-- like polished black hardware that glisten just so and pleated edges that offer structure to this softly shaped bag.  Great for the office you say?  I say great for everything.

Tory Burch Foundation Collection

The Tory Burch Foundation provides economic opportunities to women and their families in the United States. The foundation provides financing to micro-entrepreneurs who are trying desperately to get out of poverty by creating a sustainable business to support their families. Most of these women are working mothers, and I can understand as a working mother how difficult the endeavor is even with financial security, that is why we must and should, wholeheartedly support the Tory Burch Foundation.

All you have to do to support this cause is shop from the . You already love her great fun designs, so why not do it with a purpose? Her special sunflower design for this collection is sentimental - her father gave her a pendent with this design on it and it represents the inter-generational support and love that are emblematic of Tory's mission through her Foundation's work.

Dareen Hakim Le Beiruti

Whatever your thoughts are on this bag, one thing you must admit - you've never seen anything like it!! I thought the Le Icon Arabesque was bold with the giant plaque but she pleasantly surprised me with even more originality and creativity in the Le Beiruti with the oversized asymmetic hammered metal plate on a simple square clutch. This is a cocktail number like no other, your unique style will be the talk of the party. It has easily go with most looks, but it's not like anyone will notice anything else but the clutch. Comes in 6 color ways, white, gold or black clutch with Caviar Gold, Champagne Gold or Ice Silver plate. The prices are so phenomenal you can go ahead and get a couple of choices. GREAT holiday gift item!! At Dareen Hakim for $210.

Roger Vivier White Cord Pilgrim Clutch

Want to make a statement? Bruno Frisoni knows how. Check out how he took Roger Vivier's classic rhinestone buckle pilgrim clutch and refashioned it out of white cord. Yes, white cord. The pricey clutch is from the label's new, and limited edition, Rendez-Vous collection that's aimed at presenting not only Vivier's craftsmanship, but a more contemporary direction to boot. While I think this design is both fun and fashion-forward, I simply cannot justify its high four-figure price tag. While it may not be easy to assemble the cords in a perfect cold, do we forget that this bag has no exotic skin on it? At more than $8,000 (when you factor in tax), I expect at least crocodile trim, if not lining. Do you agree Bag Snobs? Thank goodness I don't ever have a need to carry clutches; I'm happy to admire this exquisite piece from afar.

Alexander McQueen Hell's Knuckle Duster Box Clutch

I logged on to Net-a-porter to check out the week's new deliveries to report to you and saw that I had an item in the shopping cart. I could not remember what it was so I clicked and saw my dream clutch... waiting for me. I've been obsessing over this Hell's Knuckle Duster Box Clutch for weeks and finally put it in my cart last Friday thinking it will get it out of my system, I then closed the page quickly so I wouldn't actually click and buy it (we are on a major bag diet over here).  But there it was this morning, damn Net-a-porter.com for letting items sit in your shopping cart for DAYS!  It's an unusual clutch from Alexander McQueen with the feather knuckle duster and the embossed leather has a mysterious quality to it.  Hell's angel has never looked so chic.  But for now, I'll put it on my (growing) Christmas list.

Victoria Beckham Totes Her Namesake Bags

I'm rooting for Victoria Beckham's new leathergoods collection to succeed. There's something campy yet exquisitely chic about the six pieces she unveiled back in September that are due out next month. Seeing them on the runway is one thing; in real life, as witnessed at LAX not too long ago, they are C-H-I-C. It really is the best of Valextra and Hermès rolled in one. Posh is pictured here carrying the "No. 4" travel bag and "No. 2" clutch purse, both in the fossil color. While the pieces aren't going to come cheap (exact prices have not yet been set), I do think they look more expensive than what they'll command. The practical and large travel bag was designed with her husband, David, in mind--but I think it works equally as well for ladies. Perhaps what I love most? As I said before, there's not a single VB logo in sight. Anywhere.

Mulberry Lizzie Leather Clutch

You have to see this clutch on an outfit to fully appreciate how amazing it is. It is on the bigger side which adds to its edgy cool. Studs are on the outs but these aren't the trendy pyramid studs, they're the standard studs that many bags had before studs were on everything. And it's definitely not the main focus. The main focus is the buckle that straps the bag into a slight scrunch. But do not fear, the buckle is not the way in - there is a concealed fastening for headache free in and out. This clutch will funk up any outfit in a flash and make you feel like you've got it all going on. Which you will have if you know enough to get this bag

Proenza Schouler Columbian Mochilla PS1

It takes special talent to f up the super cool PS1. Everything is wrong about this, from the spelling of Colombia, to the fact that mochilla is actually a backpack, but most of all it is just plain wrong. Not even my deep connection to Colombia is a strong enough bias to edge me to the "it's ok" category (my husband is half and therefore my children are part Colombian). I love all the Colombian art and artifacts my mother-in-law gives me. But this just doesn't work. I would love to see variations on this great bag but one that makes sense. The PS1 is a structured city chic bag, not a bohemian berry picking rucksack. Green and black is not the most sophisticated color combination, I feel like money should go to a charity that empowers local artisans for buying this. At Barneys New York for $1825.

Prada Inititals Tote

Finally, a Prada bag concept that's both practical AND cute. Check out Renée Zellweger and Kate Winslet sporting their Prada messenger style tote bags, fashioned from the classic tessuto and saffiano fabric and personalized with their initials. While a bag with monogrammed initials can definitely go the route of cheesy, there's something innately stylish about this one. Not only is the tote bag, with its long strap and double handles, extremely practical for everyday use, but the letters, available in a wide variety of colors and designs, are utterly adorable for all ages.

Olivia Harris by Joy Gryson Staple Flap Cross Body Bag

We all need a bit of trendy fun in our lives and we like to do it with Olivia Harris by Joy Gryson.  This season, it's the Staple Flap cross body bag.  Are those really staples done in chevron pattern?  Why yes, and in mixed metals it looks way more chic than regular old beads!  I don't like all the chains and tassels dangling on it but luckily they are removable.  Great bag for our younger snobs and for those of us who still act/look/feel young.

Carlos Falchi -Feed me please.

Slouchy design, whisky or olive ombre python in color with whipstitch detail and an asymmetric flap top describes the Carlos Falchi Diagonal Ombre Feed Bag.

This is truly a wear-anywhere bag that could easily be worn to the office and beyond. There's something about the flap top that I love. It ties into the whole slouchy appearence to give it an even more laid back feel.

To the untrained eye you may think it looks like your average Hobo, but it's much more posh than that. It is a Feed bag. Given its name because of it's slightly longer shape, of well, a horse's feed bag. Clever Carlos, Clever.

Carlos Falchi's collections are usually rich in skins and amazing textured bags and this one is no different. But for all the California dreamers out there I have bad news... the
Python is not available in your state. Ah, well. You still have sunshine and Pinks hotdogs, so life isn't so bad.

Check it out at Bergdof Goodman for $2,195.00

Foley + Corinna Mongolian Lamb Small Square Bag

Corinna bag is fabulous, yet functional. With a Mongolian lambswool panel in front and a tassel pull combined with a short handle as well as a longer crossbody strap, this bag gives you versatility and fun. That is of course, if lambswool is your thing.

This bag is more laid back than night-on-the-town chic, but I still love it. It's large enough for your day needs but isn't too big so to look strange carrying it as a handbag. However, it could possibly be mistaken for a small dog. Seriously.

Lambswool for fall/winter is a win for me. Soft, eye-catching, cozy and fun, the panel on front seals the deal. I love the off-white color as well. Combine this bag with some tall boots and a leather jacket and voila! It's winter. Instantly making me want to cuddle up with my Mongolian Lambswool lover and cup of hot cocoa.

Stella McCartney Embossed Faux-Leather Saddle Bag

This is an easy chic bag like the PS1, throw it on with everything and you'll be loving the convenience while looking absolutely fab. But you will also love that it's super lightweight. The two flaps are ingenious, you're able to access your bag without having to open the whole thing, the bag is shallow enough to find what you need with just one side up. The straps come off so you can use this as a clutch but don't, this definitely should stay a shoulder bag. The shiny green patent leather strap is an amazing contrast against the textured faux leather.

Jerome Dreyfuss Henri Bag

I am usually an advocate for the smaller bag designers, I mean Gucci can take it if we rip on one of their bags but the upstart bag designers struggle to make their place in the bag world and we like to support them.  However, there are times that I must (politely) point out the obvious and give constructive criticism.  This is such a time.  Jerome Dreyfuss as a whole show promise but this mish mash of materials is lost on me.  I like the shape and the crocodile strap is even interesting but dalmation print ponyhair, ostrich, AND gold python?!  Add the chain, exposed zipper trim and contrasting colors and you have too much for one bag to handle.  I would have liked to see this made entirely of one skin with a single contrast crocodile strap.  What about you?  Are you into this buffet?

Kara Ross Gemma B

Last night the stars were out in honor of Tinsel Town’s leading ladies, at Elle’s 17th Annual ‘Women in Hollywood’ Tribute at The Four Seasons Hotel.

Pictured above is beauty Kate Hudson (wearing Prabal Gurung) with beau, Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. And do you see that pretty little silver purse sitting on the table? For the event, she carried her Kara Ross NY Gemma B in Silver Foil Python with Hematite.

Chanel Quilted Bubble Bag

Blake Lively was spotted outside a photo shoot in New York’s East Side neighborhood last Friday. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the lovely actress was wearing a “Key to the Cure” T-shirt. The Saks Fifth Avenue exclusive was designed by Donna Karen and 100% of the proceeds are to benefit women cancer charities. She paired this feminine T-shirt with a boyfriend cardigan. Cute! But what really caught my attention, of course, was the gorgeous handbag dangling from her arm. It’s her Chanel Bubble Quilt Accordion Flap Bag!

This isn’t, however, the first time Blake has been seen carrying this bag. In fact, she has been seen carrying it many times over the past couple of years. It must be one of her favorites! But who could blame her? The Chanel Bubble Quilt Accordion Flap bag is absolutely gorgeous! The puffy quilting looks so squishy and scrumptious, just begging to be squeezed! I love the gathered sides and flap closure, they give this bag a look that is both classic and modern. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a Chanel bag without the beautiful chain straps! Unfortunately, this unique collection has long been discontinued. But it isn’t too late to score a pre-loved piece!

Miu Miu in Venice

Miu Miu just added a new flagship store located on Venice’s Salizada San Moise, Italy.

Designed by architect Roberto Baciocchi (who recently also designed the Miu Miu Singapore boutique and Prada Las Vegas Boutique), the single floor boutique houses ready-to-wear, bags, footwear and accessories.

From the entrance one proceeds to the area dedicate to leathergoods in which are large shelves upholstered in damask make for a dynamic product display. Following, is the area that houses footwear; a small lounge lit by a large skylight preserved from the original structure. Finally, one reaches the ready-to-wear area in which the wood, stucco and plaster ceilings and furnishings have all been preserved and restored. the large window has been fitted with leaded glass bathing the space in natural light.

Yves Saint Laurent Leopard Print

Leopard and animal print is a popular trend this Fall season that’s all over boutique and designer shelves. It’s one of those trends that’s stuck on the yearly repeat cycle, and I personally will never get sick of. However, I can be quite picky about the print..to me it all depends on who the created the print. One of my favorites this season is the Yves Saint Laurent new grey leopard print! I love everything pictured above: gorgeous Large Roady ($2995), iconic Platform Pumps ($880), French Wallet ($575), Zip Wallet ($595) and the Stole Scarf ($495)!

Yves Saint Laurent bowls me over with Vanity Bowler

To paraphrase a cheesy old pickup line, do you believe in love at first sight, or does the Yves Saint Laurent Vanity Bowler need to walk by again?

For me, the bag had to walk by a second time, but after a that I had no more doubts. The shape is unexpected, the color is a touch lighter than the military trend generally dictates and the bag looks just different enough to make it stand out without all of that needy attention-seeking that tends to come from accessory designers with less finesse than the fine folks at Yves Saint Laurent.

New Minimalism can be tough for women who actually need a functional everyday bag because it generally dictates smaller proportions and fewer pockets, but this bag demonstrates that stylish women don’t have to make such sacrifices if they don’t want to. The design has clean lines and minimal unnecessary adornment beyond the normal YSL clochette, but it also attaches some gusset pockets to do the unglamourous task of organizing your keys and cell phone. If you want to participate in several of fall’s trends without looking like a fashion victim, this bag is among your very best options.

Is this DVF bag terrible, or just insane enough to be fabulous?

I think I know how this one is going to turn out, but in the spirit of Friday, let’s have a poll!

The Diane Von Furstenberg Piper Sequined Shoulder Bag is a lot of look, in the immortal words of Tim Gunn. Sequins, feathers, multicolor metallic leather, studs, two straps…the design has a lot of competing visual ideas on a rather modestly sized bag, and my first reaction reflected that pretty accurately. But sometimes, stuff that seems totally awful is actually just weird enough to work, on the right girl. Standing out in a crowded contemporary handbag market takes some guts, which this bag has in spades, but I’m just not sure that the ends justify the means in this case in particular. What do you think? Vote and let us know in the comments.

Is this DVF bag crazy, or crazy like a fox?

The Yves Saint Laurent perfect combo

After our launch of TalkShoes, my love of looking at shoes is finally transferring to a love of wanting to wear these shoes. You see, I was always a bag girl, not a shoe girl. But now I am starting to grow my shoe collection and I am constantly drawn to over-the-top artistic shoes. Amanda covered the much talked about YSL Mohawk Pumps on TalkShoes already and from the fall collection there is a bag that compliments these pumps ideally.

The simplicity of the Yves Saint Laurent Chyc Large Patent Flap Shoulder Bag reminds me of the Celine Classic Box Bag, which you already know I love. Paired with the funky YSL Mohawk pumps, I think we have the perfect pair.

Would you buy a white Balenciaga bag?

When people think of Balenciaga they automatically think of the array of colors the house is known to produce. I can never keep up with our Balenciaga forum members, who are color geniuses by the way, discussing their favorite colors and leathers from the brand.

The color shown above is actually called Nacre and is part of the current season collection. I am quite picky about white bags, for obvious reasons. White attracts dirt from the moment it is removed from its packaging. On top of that, I prefer a clean/sleek design when opting for a white bag. Crisp and white go together like peanut butter and jelly in my vocabulary, which is why I prefer sophistication and elegance when it comes to a white handbag.

The Balenciaga color hunt is never ending, but I don’t think white is in the cards for me. Would you buy a white Balenciaga bag?

Anne Hathaway is lovely with Roger Vivier

Anne Hathaway graces the cover of the November issue of Vogue which hits newsstands October 26th. The young beauty looks absolutely glamorous. Of course the above shot caught my eye, as Anne embraces a Roger Vivier clutch. The Roger Vivier Clutch with a signature crystal buckle is the epitome of elegant evening wear. More via Vogue. What do you think of Anne’s look for Vogue?

Fashion Week Handbags: VBH Spring 2011

VBH handbags can be elusive little creatures. The brand has an extremely limited online presence, and when you combine that with limited in-store distribution in the US, it’s easy to become envious of the numerous starlets who get to sport the brand’s famous envelope clutches on the red carpet. Why should only starlets have unfettered access to such great evening bags?

The brand’s Spring 2011 collection goes far beyond those familiar clutches, however. The slouchy python and structure crocodile pieces are the star of this line by far, and although there are a few missteps (hello, gold bedazzled bucket bag), the beautiful and straightforward use of exotics makes up for the rather meager sins to be found. And are those python iPad cases that I spy? It sure looks like it.

Fashion Week Handbags: Chloe Spring 2011

Shocker of all shockers: Chloe’s Spring 2011 handbags embrace New Minimalism. I’ll give you a moment to recover.

With the exception of the duffel bag above, which also comes in a lovely shade of cement grey and will surely be embraced by celebrities and fashion people alike, the offerings from this collection are a bit underwhelming. Minimalism crosses the line to boredom very quickly in a few of these bags, but thankfully Chloe included two over-beaded evening bags to balance out the simplicity of some of the other styles. A brand really only needs one hit bag to make a collection a success, though, and it looks as though Chloe will definitely accomplish that goal for Spring 2011.

Fashion Week Handbags: Matthew Williamson for Bvlgari Spring 2011

British designer Matthew Williamson is best known for bright, modern prints, and ultraluxury brand Bvlgari is best known for very, very expensive things, so it follows logically that a handbag collaboration between the two would result in a somewhat more modern step for the old Italian label. Williamson brought his signature patterns to several bags for the Matthew Williamson for Bvlgari Spring 2011 handbag collection, but he also managed stay true to his aesthetic in a slightly more muted way with the use of metallic-finished embossed leather. This collection is strongest in its small bags and clutches, where a little dose of pattern or texture goes a long way.

Would you wear squirrel fur? What about Roberto Cavalli squirrel fur?

My personal feelings about fur notwithstanding, when I first saw the Roberto Cavalli Squirrel-Trimmed Brocade Shoulder Bag, it actually seemed like a rather judicious and attractive use of the material. And then I read the word “squirrel,” and it screwed up my entire perception of this bag’s reality.

Is it just me, or is there something positively Deliverence-esque about wearing squirrel fur? Are European squirrels more chic than their American counterparts, or are the animals just not regarded the same way in other countries? And if they are regarded the same way, why use a material that has such low-market connotations on a bag with a four-figure price tag?

The handbag itself is actually quite beautiful, when you don’t consider the fur or its source. The brocade embroidering is layered on top of what appears to be burnout velvet, and the details of the top flap and woven handle are intricate and extremely rich-looking. Cavalli managed to imbue his lush aesthetic into this bag without getting too far into tacky territory, and it would have been a textured, season-appropriate addition to many high-end winter wardrobes. And then, someone made the executive decision to cover it in squirrel, which apparently doesn’t confuse some people as much as it does me – the bag sold out soon after its Net-a-Porter debut. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $3650.

Rebecca Minkoff Python Fling

Women in Hollywood’ Tribute at The Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. For the occasion she’s wearing the Voom by Joy Han’s ruffle Sharon dress in eggplant (available at Revolve Clothing for $229) and carrying the snakeskin-embossed Fling clutch by Rebecca Minkoff (pre-order available in Tan-ish-gold Python at Bloomingdales for $275).

Michael Kors Spring 2011

As a barometer of the times, it would appear Michael Kors is sending a clear message with his spring show: we're not quite out of the woods yet. Set against a wall of green foliage designed by Raul Avila--his first-ever three-dimensional backdrop--the clothes were sensible, high-class and oozed approachable luxe appeal. The same could be said for his collection bags. Sharp and urban, they offered his Park Avenue clientele the perfect bag for window shopping on Madison Avenue, antiquing in Litchfield County or catching the rays on Coopers Beach. Whereas in past seasons the bags boasted a plethora of straps and buckles, it was almost as if Michael said "enough!" and wiped the slate clean. I absolutely adore the flat messenger bags in croc and leather that feature no adornment save for the simple ringlets attached to the strap. The style is decidedly French chic--something Michael would have shown on the Céline runway had he been designing there still--while the structured bags capture a favorite ladies-who-lunch shape.

Olivia Palermo's CC Skye Onie Messenger Bag

A front row staple, Olivia Palermo opted for the CC Skye Onie Messenger Bag ($595) when she attended the Peter Som show last week. The bag is a chic cross between Proenza's PS 1, Gucci's Horsebit Hobo, and Givenchy's Nightingale and at just $595, it's considerably more affordable than any of the three. It's made of black snake-embossed lambskin, has a long adjustable and detachable messenger strap, and a number of pockets. It looks a lot more luxe than the price tag suggests, so it's little wonder the bag is selling out fast , so hurry up if you like this style as much as I do!

Rachel Bilson in Miu Miu

While we all know Rachel Bilson's a die-hard Chanel fan, but it's nice to see that she's open to a little spice in her life. Spice, in this sense, comes in the form of Miu Miu's matelassé bag from the fall collection. She's chosen to wear it solely using the top handle (the strap is clearly removed from its ringlets) and it works beautifully with the ankle boots and pleated dress she has on. It's ladylike but done in a modern way thanks to the soft, ruched leather. With its roomy interior and easy access buckle closure, this Miu Miu is both fitting for weekend shopping trips as it is for school or work.

$1,795, available at Miu Miu boutiques

Blake Lively's See by Chloe Cherry Mini Bag

I'm loving the new Gossip Girl episodes set in Paris! Don't they just make you wish you could jet-set across the ocean for a few days - if only for La Duree! Responsibilities...such a pain... One thing you won't have to hop on a plane for is the See by Chloe Cherry Mini Bag  that Blake Lively sported on set. The bag pictured above sold out on Shopbop, but is still stocked at major department stores for $360; you can find the Foil version for $335 on Shopbop. The Cherry Mini bag is a super cute petite version of the label's previously released Grasshopper Large Crossbody Leather Bag and while leopard isn't for everyone, if you've got a quirky style, I'd say go for it, especially because it's way more convenient than a clutch if you're planning to wear it out at night.

What do you think about Blake's Mini? Better than the Grasshopper?

Marchesa Marble Beaded Clutch

Talk about eye candy! At her va-va-voom spring Marchesa presentation, Georgina Chapman showcased this mint hand-embroidered marble beaded clutch as part of her label's take on an Orientalist journey. Amazing right? While it'll certainly look at home complementing any of Marchesa's delicate creations, it'll do its part to add some extra oomph to jeans and a fitted boyfriend blazer. Love the mint beads set on a classic shape--my favorite color and silhouette--and how, although it was certainly painstakingly created, nevertheless remains on the inconspicuous side. Another day at Marchesa, another couture creation to covet.

$2,795, available at Neiman Marcus & Bergdorf Goodman

Lena Erziak "Morgan" in Ostrich

I had the pleasure of meeting one of the designers of Lena Erziak (Hasna, half of the sisterhood duo) in New York and not only is she gracious and beautiful but very passionate about her work. She visits all the farms the animals of her bags come from to make sure the conditions are humane. It is rare to find people who care that much. I instantly fell in love with the Morgan in ostrich (of course!), the quality of this bag is really quite amazing - the interior is lined in the non-quill portion of the ostrich. But when I found out the price, I literally was speechless. This good size bag in all ostrich and made in Italy is $1495. Now it makes me wonder what they're doing right and what others are doing wrong?

Sneak Peek: Net-a-Porter.com Bag Guide Video

Net-a-porter.com is launching a Bag Guide video tomorrow with the season's latest bags including Darla (Chloe), Alexis (Marc Jacobs), Alexa (Mulberry) and Alice (Halston Heritage). A 3D visual is so much more helpful than a flat photo when searching for a bag and all bags featured will only be a click away! The video was filmed with girls in a green maze looking gorgeous with their bags, and then stumbling upon a treasure trove of arm candy. Stuff of a bag snob's dreams! Make sure you tune in tomorrow to Net-a-porter.com for the video launch!

Roger Vivier Miss Viv Hobo

For a versatile hobo that's roomy, stylish and a step above the rest, look no further than Roger Vivier's covetable Miss Viv. It looks as great with a pantsuit as it does with a Boho look. I've always been a fan of soft, flexible shoulder straps so you can imagine my delight in seeing the slouchy chic vibe this burgundy suede hobo offers. I love that it's nice and simplistic on the outside--with just one outer pocket designated by a slimmed-down Vivier buckle--while inside it's just roomy for miles. At this price, it's clearly on the higher luxe spectrum, but it's destined to be a bag that ages in style--much like I would hope its wearer.

Hotel Snob: The Chatwal New York

Note: We usually do not write about hotels but hello, the leather wrapped closets at the Chatwal are inspired by Louis Vuitton Steamer Trunks!

We stayed at New York's newest and most fabulous five star hotel, The Chatwal New York, last week and fell in love with Master Architect Thierry Despont's restoration of the historical building at 130 W. 44th that was once home to America's first theatrical society, "The Lambs". Despont embraced the glamour of early 20th century travel and tradition of Empire Art Deco while making it thoroughly modern. The leather wrapped double closets in each room were inspired by Louis Vuitton steamer trunks (how fitting for the Bag Snobs!) and if not for the ultra high tech amenities (flat screen IP tv w/blueray dvd built inside the bathroom mirror!) and complimentary internet access (SO important for bloggers and business travelers alike) I would have thought I was in another era from the way the impeccably trained staff greeted us and took care of us throughout the stay.  We were asked to review the spa for Beauty Snob but I loved the property so much I felt it deserved a mention here as well! (jump for more)

Though magnificent, the hotel is not gaudy in anyway-- from lush suede walls to the mattresses and the custom made leather wrapped vanity where I blogged from-- the Chatwal is the ultimate in quiet luxury. I do not sleep well during Fashion Week but on the custom made organic 100% pure cotton mattress by Shifman Mattress commissioned by General Manager Joel Freyberg for Chatwal, I slept a solid 8 hours each night (I even missed a couple of early morning shows but shhh... don't tell!). These hand made mattresses are the stuff dreams are made of, an average mattress takes 45 minutes to produce but these took NINE HOURS each! The secret of The Chatwal bed lies in its inner spring mattresses, built with layers of natural cotton and environmentally friendly natural products, it is a fully organic mattress.  I'm obsessed with it and think The Chatwal should start selling them to their guests :)

I should also mention that each guests gets a bottle of Fiji water at turn down service, and the housekeeper will heat the floors in your bathroom (yes you read correctly, heated marble floors!) in addition to turning on your high tech Japanese heated commode!

You must visit this resplendent hotel if you are in New York. The Lambs Club, the restaurant at Chatwall has the most amazing grilled octopus (I ate it three days in a row) and apparently Woody Allen threw a party there one night during my stay (had I known I would have crashed it!).

The Chatwal also offers complimentary car service to its guests (first come first service and within 10 blocks of the hotel.) which proved to be very useful when we were running late to shows! Conveniently located in the heart of the theater district at 130. West 44th St (between 6th and 7th avenue), you can walk to all the shows and great restaurants in the area!

Nanette Lepore Leather Strap Tote

I love that Nanette Lepore now has a bag collection that goes with the philosophy of their ready to wear - spunky, girly and easy to wear. This textured leather cross body / tote is the perfect Frugal Snob choice for your everyday bag that can take you from work to weekends. Sure it's nothing earth shattering but for the girl who wants a slightly spirited bag that is functional and effortless, this has it all. Big enough to hold your entire life with a cross body option to allow you to keep moving. The hardware details, buckles and the textured leather are all done just right. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $495.

Burberry Patent Leather Crossbody Bag

It's been fun watching fashion shows live streamed to my MacBook but I have to say, NOT THE SAME. I tried to lie to myself that it was just as fun but it really isn't. There is nothing, NOTHING like the energy of a fashion show. One show I'm really bummed to have missed was the Burberry Prorsum show in London this morning (Christopher Bailey is amazing, a true talent). The collection was pure London Punk, studded trench coats and military style leather jackets-- but lightened up with neon bright bags.  Bags that you can order, right now, until September 28th.  Keeping in mind that they are Spring 2011 bags (are designers going overboard with instant gratification?!) but you'll have them by mid November.

I want to know what you think of the shop from the runway trend many designers are embracing.  Will you be pre-ordering now for next year?

Roger Vivier Miss Viv in Giraffe Print

OMG! This bag is a show stopper. I apologize for the poor quality image but I had to take pictures of it myself to show you. First of all, I am SOOO glad Roger Viver revised their logo, it is an immeasurable improvement on the Pilgrim buckle. It is a more effective use of negative space for impact and intrigue. It is so brilliant, why didn't they do it sooner?? But now that they're here, they are going to see some new fans. And not just on account of the logo, the entire new collection is amazing (Man Snob Jim and I are obviously on the same page). While everyone else is doing leopard, they differentiate themselves with giraffe ponyhair which is so much more polished and sophisticated. There are flaps are on both sides, the back has the embossed square instead. I love this bag so much but the price is a bit of a deterrent, it's small-ish and not all ponyhair so I'm raising an eyebrow at the $2925 price tag. Available at the Beverly Hills Neiman Marcus, 310-550-5900.

DVF Bonnie Foldover Tote in Gold Metallic

It's hard to find a stylish tote for $700 without resorting to the usual suspects (just look around and you'll know what I mean).  And yes, Diane von Furstenberg is known more for her wrap dresses than bags but you have to see the latest bag collection (sick!).  Top of my list is the Bonnie Foldover Tote in distressed metallic gold: an attention grabbing bag that will pull your outfit together in an instant.  The crackled leather is soft but will withstand more beating (it will look better with use actually!), the exterior pocket is within reach without sticking out like a sore thumb and it has lightweight yet sturdy flat shoulder straps (suspended on easy to open bar closures) that will stay on your shoulders even over heavy coats.  And the shape, it folds over and has another handle on the bottom to use as an oversized clutch!  I'm crazy about this bag!  I was with a friend at the DVF boutique on 14th and Washington last week and she snapped up the last one before I could whip out my wallet.  But a snob always gets what she wants, I'm ordering mine online, tax free.  Take that!

Burberry Prorsum Spring 2011 Bags

While Christopher Bailey's spring collection upped the wow factor when it came to details and second-skin pant options, his bags were noticeably shrunken--but still statement-making. They skimmed, grazed and gently caressed the body in an assortment of delicious colors--spearmint, beetroot, lime, opal and lipstick red--that left VIP front row guests, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Alexa Chung and Serena Williams, crooning for more. Whereas in past seasons there was an emphasis on the Burberry house check, for spring the brand's iconic symbol came stitched in a much more subtle manner. The "Sling" bag is Burberry's new bag du jour--and it comes available in a number of dizzying color and fabric combinations. Python! Patent! Bridle! Cross-body! Envelope clutch! You name it, Burberry's got you covered. While the simple patent leather bags have an almost Mod feel, what with their monotone colors and simple shapes, my favorite has to be the bridal patent clutch. Bridle straps are stitched onto the bag in a dizzyingly intricate manner while high shine brass hardware has been infused with a hint of gold. The leather's also been tanned, sealed and varnished to achieve that perfectly smooth surface texture. What's more, and perhaps it's due to the slightly less complicated construction of the bags, the prices are, dare I say, reasonable for its market.

$995 to $3,500
