Kim Kardashian Pairs a Blond Wig with an All-Black Birkin

People got excited for a hot minute when Kim Kardashian tweeted that she had dyed her hair blond again, but then Kim later burst everyone’s bubble by revealing via Instagram that her new blond locks were actually just a wig. Which is too bad, because I liked blond Kim. Here she is, reveling in her flaxen-haired deception for a day on the streets of NYC. Her bag is her trusty Hermes So Black Birkin, which works extremely well with Kanye’s uber-strict designer dress code.

Kim has been carrying this bag a lot recently – here she is holding it close at LAX last month, and here she is just last week in NYC, carrying it with another all-black ensemble. You can check out all of Kim’s many Birkins in “The Many, Many Bags of Kim Kardashian.” To her credit, she has only been seen carrying this hand-painted Hermes nightmare that Kanye gifted her last X-mas once.

Gucci Debuts Bright Diamante

Somehow, Gucci never seems to go wrong with its huge line of handbags. For pre-fall, the brand delved into its vast creative archives to bring back the house’s Diamante leather in an array of bright colors.

Bag of the Week: The Alexander McQueen Heroine Shoulder Bag

Bag: Alexander McQueen Heroine Shoulder BagPrice: $2,085 Why It’s the Bag of the Week: Although this design isn’t new, its feels fresh in this totally gorgeous shade of ultra-pale blush, with just enough black edgepaint to define its lines. I much prefer this version of the Heroine to the original tote – the closure is much more functional and intuitive on this shoulder bag.

Kourtney Kardashian Shops with a White Givenchy Bag

Here’s Kourtney Kardashian, shopping in the Meatpacking District in NYC, wearing a rather casual ensemble that seems a little reminiscent of something one might see in a Kardashian boudoir. (I like the idea of wearing silk shorts in broad daylight conceptually, but I’m not sure it’ll ever catch on.) Her bag is an adorable Givenchy Antigona Mini Bag with red trim. We just saw Kourtney in the Hamptons last week on TalkShoes, wearing a pair of Stuart Weitzman wedges. Kourtney is the sole remaining Kardashian sister who is without her own edition of “Many Bags,” but while you’re waiting for us to whip that one up, you can take a look at the vast wealth of handbags that her sisters Kim, Khloe and Kylie and Kendall lay claim to.

Backpacking Around Europe

Tina and I designed the Snob Essentials Runway backpack for countless scenarios, and one of our favorites is travel. Whether you’re hiking around a tropical island or perusing the streets of Italy, this bag helps you get on your way, with no-muss, no-fuss. Who wants to spend time planning your outfit when you could be out exploring or shopping?

I loved shooting in front of Florence’s 1880 Tepidarium for our Luisa via Roma Firenze4Ever Style Lab, but to be honest, that printed dress was a view in itself! Pairing it with the backpack was a spirited way to wear Brazilian designer Fabiana Milazzo’s luxuriously beaded gown, especially with Idriss Guelai Atelier’s golden skeleton glove.

Tickled in Turquoise

What’s the color of summer 2014? Officially turquoise! Celebs can’t seem to get enough of our bags in the vibrant, summery hue, and we can’t get enough of seeing these gorgeous girls in them!

Emmy Rossum is all about the Runway backpack. With a versatile top handle, so you can carry it a variety of ways, and multiple hidden compartments, it’s so perfect for the busy chanteuse and actress. How beautiful is she? I can’t wait for Shameless to return to the small screen in the fall!

Prada Tessuto Camo-Print Tote Bag

At the moment, Prada has an entire camo collection, but that doesn’t really faze me. All it takes is one, and I’m only interested in this one. I have to say it’s the practicality that won me over, naturally. This unaffected and easy tote is perfect for those days when you’re feeling like you need half your closet with you and can’t bear to part with your favorite things and supposed essentials (even though you know you don’t need it, it’s nice to have.

Expect the Unexpected

From Roberto Cavalli to Dolce & Gabbana: Here’s another look styled by my dear friend Lee Oliveira. I gave the talented stylist and photographer/contributor for The New York Times free reign over my ensemble, and the results were both right on and unexpected.

I would not have thought to pair this exuberant dress with these equally vivacious accessories myself. Lee has an innately skilled eye for color and prints that I don’t dare to try, and I love it!

Cut to classic and demure proportions, this brocade Dolce & Gabbana shift dress is reminiscent of a classic vintage piece.

Savas Caroline Bicycle Basket

This piece speaks to my heart. When I bought my bicycle, the basket that went on the front was actually a major factor in my decision-making process. I had to make sure the bike could hold the exact basket I wanted!

Moschino Jacket Quilted Leather Shoulder Bag and Biker Leather Backpack:

Finally, the long-awaited Moschino jacket bags are here. Yep, now you can wear your leather motorcycle jacket and carry it, too. What a world we live in! Silly as the concept may seem, it’s all relative. They’re really not so ridiculous when compared to the likes of classic books posing as bags, especially when they’re made out of cigar boxes and old fabric and they go for the same price. At least there’s a level of craftsmanship and ingenuity going behind this kitsch.

Kicking things off with a McDonald’s-themed capsule collection, Jeremy Scott has unsurprisingly caused a stir upon taking the reigns at Moschino and he clearly has no plan to slow down. Paying homage to the quintessential quilted Chanel jacket and the classic biker jacket, these thoroughly irreverent bags flaunt Italian humor at its best.

That said, however, I don’t think I would ever carry them. Maybe I’m being traditional, but I personally prefer my jackets on my back and my sleeves serving a purpose! If I had one of these bags, they would stay on display at home. What about you? Or maybe the question should rather be: Which street-style blogger will be snapped carrying one first? Because you know it’s only a (short) matter of time.

Rochas Nina Tote

Fine design is in the details. Or the detail, for that matter. I love it when designers take a simple, classic shape and elevate it into something really special with the help of one powerful detail. Rochas has a knack for doing that, and a bag like this lets you command your own sense of style while upgrading your look in an instant. The use of that stamped snakeskin-effect center is so chic and striking.

The structure is flawless, just rigid enough to make you feel like a lady and just curvy enough to keep you from looking rigid. The contrasting textured lambskin leather is luscious and intriguing, and the neutral taupe hue is a no-brainer.

The Snobs Take Italy

I always look forward to perusing the latest from Luisa via Roma for our Firenze4Ever Style Labs, but shooting our Snob Essentials bags made the experience even more special. Tina and I designed them to fit easily into your wardrobe, whether you’re wearing jeans and a tee to the market or a beautifully printed MSGM dress ($1,156) and patchwork Giuseppes ($1,595) on the streets of Florence! The croc-embossed Treasure ($98) offers instant polish and a serious sense of luxury that you wouldn’t expect looking at the price tag. Carry it throughout your day, then switch over to the embroidered clutch ($78) for an evening out. Really, you can carry either from day-to-night, but I love an excuse to carry something new! Also pictured: Sciumè Sabik necklace ($812) and Reminiscience Oskana Collection double finger ring ($244).

Jessica Alba x Roger Vivier U-Look Shopper

A beautiful white bag is on every Snob’s wish list, and it seems Jessica Alba just might have found the best one out there. From the gold hardware to the subtle gleam of the leather, Roger Vivier’s U-Look satchel has everything you could want, including versatility. And I don’t just mean that it will be easy to coordinate with all of your summer brights (though it will!). As Jess demonstrates, this shopper works with everything from floral skirts to cozy travel sweats. Most recently, she paired it with an orange blazer on her way home from a trip to Turkey. You know a celebrity really loves something if she’s worn it multiple times!

Chloé Dalston Leather Shoulder Bag

Chloé‘s latest, the Dalston (named after Creative Director Claire Waight Keller‘s hometown in England), is one of the most creative satchels I have ever seen. I had the chance to preview it at the Neiman Marcus conclave yesterday. (Conclave is like summer camp for Neiman Marcus retail managers and buyers across the country, when they get to see all the newest offerings from brands each season. I obviously don’t work there but attended as a guest — it is so much fun!) The bag is the perfect example of fashion and function working in gorgeous harmony.

Soft and slouchy featuring a subtle contrast of colors, this is an oversized piece I can get into. What looks like an attractively roomy day tote reveals itself to be wildly versatile, designed with a variety of ways to access the bag. You can use the big, exposed zipper on top or unzip the lower portion and open it as a flap style.

The choices don’t end there: fold it in half and carry it like a clutch or toss it on your shoulder for total ease. The single handle ensures you won’t find yourself repeatedly pulling up that second strap that somehow never wants to stay on your shoulder.

I found out Claire was Tom Ford‘s protégée back in his Gucci days – no wonder there are familiar references to Tom’s famed aesthetic, from the sexy curves to the chunky zipper. Chic is the most overused and abused word in the fashion language, but I cannot find a better way to sum up the Dalston!

Angelina Jolie x Everlane Petra Portfolio: Ever After

Between spearheading human rights initiatives and raising six tots, Angelina Jolie must also make time to promote her films, so it was off to Tokyo this week for the Jolie-Pitts! That kind of jet setting requires you to have every Mom Snob essential imaginable on-hand, and the best way to fit everything in is with a roomy tote like the Everlane Petra Portfolio. As much as I love color, black is the easiest to travel with.

Nancy Gonzalez Small Framed Mink Fur Clutch Bag: A Fur Foray

Nancy’s foray in to new exotics is as exciting as the bags themselves. When the queen of crocodile takes on a new (and arguably equally decadent) material, you take notice. So it’s no surprise that with her masterful touch and ever-elegant aesthetic, Nancy Gonzalez is able to convert the fur bag into something seriously sophisticated.

Mink is something I know she is fond of, so don’t expect plain old dark mink from her: pristine white mink is the pinnacle of tactile lust. This is a small frame clutch, sans any unnecessary bells and whistles. The structure keeps the effect as simple as can be, allowing the fur to speak for itself. And don’t think just because this is fur it’s without a hint of skin. If you’re wondering where the crocodile is, it covers the chain-link handle. Naturally, the deep, dark contrast is the perfect finishing touch to enhance the creamy puff of cloud that is the bag.

Chloé Camille Crossbody Bag

I cannot get enough of Chloé bags lately! The current object of my desire is the Camille crossbody bag: an absolutely adorable mini-bucket bag laden with some serious hardware. The lock, a clever throwback to Chloé’s Paddington days (a lifetime ago in bag years), is quite heavy, but it’s also easily removable. Meanwhile, the bag itself is so delightfully lightweight, the lock doesn’t bother me nearly as much as the Paddington’s did!

So what catalyzed the sudden obsession with Chloé again these past few months? It seems like their designs have taken a newly reinvigorated turn, that’s for sure. Whatever the reason, I’m all about the change. I have the brown version of the Camille, and since I’ve gotten it, it has rarely left my side.

The Paint Box

Summer calls for bold color, strappy sandals, crop tops, and of course, a playful bag. And if you’re lucky, a trip to Florence, which is where I styled this lovely model for one of our Luisa via Roma Firenze4Ever shoots! Paint splatter is going to be a big trend for fall, but Tina and I don’t like waiting (especially for a print you can carry year-round) so we have ours now on the cute, crossbody Snob Essentials Jewel Box. I loved pairing it with Marco di Vincenzo’s disco metallic skirt and Janiero’s super sexy faux leather bustier. This is how you want to dress for a night out in Italy.
